Why Dolphin scrubs

Hi I'm Clarissa's mom. I have been doing craft shows for years now. Clarissa has been searching for the perfect product to sell. She has drawn pictures (which due to a spatial disability are not that great), she has created numerous items that look kid friendly but, I was scared she won't succeed.  While I believe failure is a part of life, Clarissa has seen a lot of that at school and I wanted her first business/ craft endeavor to be successful.  She was thinking of dog bones, and that line may come when she is able to do it more on her own (another trait I strive to teacher her is independence).  A few months ago she tied 3 ribbons together and made ribbon scarfs and was sure that was the item for her.  I had planned to let her try her hand at them.  Knowing we could price them right for a few sales.  However we made sugar scrubs in Girl Scouts for Mother's Day and she just knew this would be the item for her. I had to agree, I had given some away at Christmas and have had request for more.  It doesn't go with my product line so I wasn't going to pursue it.  That night she thought of a name "Dolphin Scrubs", came up with a commercial (after she had gone to bed and been in every 2 minutes to tell me something about her business, including she needed bus. cards).  I saw my girl come alive.

Clarissa struggles tremendously in school. Reading is difficult for her (and her mom is a reading teacher), She has worked very hard to little avail.  We have been searching for something she is good at.  Something to build her confidence.  I believe this is it! I do hope you will support her in her endeavor of a worth while product.  She does measure and make her scrubs with adult supervision.  She made the decision for containers and had taken out a loan from the bank of mom to buy supplies.

I truly believe this is an experience she will grow and learn from.  I know this will do more than build self esteem (my main goal here).  I encourage all parents to encourage your children as entrepreneurs.  But, let them do it. They will learn nothing if you do it for them.  Mahalo
